Shoe Design
I chose to create my shoe design after one of my favorite pairs of shoes, my Vans. I was inspired to design this shoe, because I love how it’s characteristics, such as the simple white logo, and the little pink stripe, give the shoe a clean, modern look. In my design of the shoe, some of the art elements I utilized were line, shape, value, and color. I used lines in my design to help convey the general outline of the shoe, as well as to represent where there were darker spots in the shoe. I used shape to give my design in overall appearance of being two-dimensional. I used value and color to get my design at the perfect lighting, and to make most of the shoe darker on the top, with lighter colors at the bottom. This helped my design reach the point where it looked modern. The most successful part of my design is how the colors and outline of the shoe make it seem more realistic.
Shoe Repetition
This design was based off of my original shoe design (as seen above). In this piece, I used a spiral of my original design to convey the main focus, which is the pair of shoes in the center. In this design, I used the art elements line, form, and space to try to improve it overall. I used lines to give my design an outline, which will help keep people’s attention toward the pair of shoes in the middle. I used the element form to make it feel like my design was three dimensional, so when you look at it, you would feel like you were looking through a spiraling hole at the shoes in the center. I used space to give my artwork some depth to it, I did this by using all of the available space to complete my design. The most successful part of this design is the overall appearance of the spiraling shoes, and how it gives the piece more form and complexity.
