My mountain design was one of the first pieces I created. It’s a scene that’s supposed to represent an afternoon on a nature trail by a mountain range. In this design I used the art elements lines, shape, and color to describe this afternoon scene to viewers. I used lines to make the trial seem as if it were fading into the distance, as well as to give outlines for the birds. I used shape to convey this piece is two-dimensional. I used color to show an afternoon sky while the sun was setting, and to create different colored plants all around the field. The most successful part of this design was the appearance of the geese flying together, they weren’t all the same size and some of their wings were in different directions to make their flying seem more realistic. I loved how I designed the geese so much, that I incorporated them into the design on the homepage of this website.
