Fairey Sketch
The Fairey Sketch was one of my favorite designs to create! This piece was inspired by the work of Shepard Fairey, who is an American street artist, graphic designer, and more. Shepard Fairey has a particular art style that I tried to capture in my design inspired by him. In my design, I based it off of a picture of myself holding the instrument I play in the marching band, the Euphonium. To help me convey Fairey’s art style the best I could, I used the art elements of line, shape, and color. I used lines to give my design a curvy, out on the street feel to it, as well as to make the appearance of the Euphonium more detailed. I used shape to give my design an appearance of being two-dimensional. I only used five different colors in this piece, to help it seem more clean and simplistic. The most successful part of this design is the appearance of the Euphonium, the amount of detail on it allows the viewer to see the tubing, supports, and valves.
